Has P25NX kicked the bucket?

Has P25NX kicked the bucket?
Jul 05, 2018

Seems like P25NX has gone dead in the water. The project creator even admits the "Version 2" of his network has been a failure. Seems like the on-paper design was great but didn't scale into real-life usage. The other issue is with the huge rise of MMDVM it looks like P25NX has become a "walled garden" for those who still want to stay on it while MMDVM usage has been on the rise. P25NX was supposedly working on integrating the two networks together via the reflectors, but with the issues present in the system it looks like it will be on hold indefinitely.

P25 Radio Identification

If you're using our network, program your radio ID with your CCS7 number. You can get the number from Here.

Just pick CCS7 as your radio type. (even though it's issued by DMR-MARC, we're using this on P25NX for consistency.)

The following Talkgroups are being used on our current reflector system and is running in parallel with the TG’s used by the P25NX system to make it easier if we integrate systems in the future.

Quantar RSS Programming Software

According to my MOL account, Quantar CPS (RSS no longer available) is RVN5002. Current version is RVN5002AZ (14.09.01), however RVN5002BA (14.10.01) is also shown on the site but "not yet available".

On a side note for any MOL/M company folks lurking here ... brilliant move restricting search terms to 4 characters or greater when people need to search for things like "RSS" or "CPS". Instead I had to search for all "Quantar" items and go through all the results by hand to find it.

Motorola Quantar repeater

I just bought a Motorola Quantar repeater to use for my Ham club repeater and I need to make some changes, but I need the RSS programming software. Can't seem to find it though a Google search.

Help!

I'll pay for it legelly, just don't know where to get it.

A nine-pin male to nine-pin female EIA-232 null-modem cable (Motorola part number:
30-80369E31) is required to connect the computer to the device.

Quantar Null cable does not seem to work

Null cable does not seem to work . . .

As advised . . . I purchased a DB9 male to female null cable, but after hooking it up between my computer and the Quantar.

It says misconfiguration or no COM port seen, so now I wonder what the correct cable is? The shop I bought the Quantar from thought it might be a straight through cable? I see a shop on EBay selling a Quantar cable just for this use, but they want $34.95, ouch!

Does anybody know exactly what this cable actually is? I'll buy whatever I need, just want to get it right, thanks
